The Tallahassee Sentinel says that all the delegates composing the recent Florida Democraic State" Convention in that city were from Tallabassee, the State at large not being represented by a solitary individual,. When Eld ridge was asked to stump Wisconsin for Greeley be exclaimed : "Why, I would as soon announce to my constituents that I was coming out there with a dozen monkeys and two elephants for a big show." So outrageo-isly have the Democrats gerrymandered Oregon that, though the Republicans have carried twelve coun ties, containing more than two-thirds of the population of the State, they . i - .1 i i t. Have secured in tnem uareiy a majority .in the House of Representatives. The San Francisco Alta speaks glow ingly of the Republican ratification meeting iu that city, and says that the Republicans of California accept j the nominations and the platform cordially, and will do their best in the coming Struggle. Grant was their first choice, and while they had no strong prefer ence, and had given no instructions in regard to the Vice Prosidency, they be heve that no better man than Henry Wilson could have been selected for the Vice Presidency. . , j The Albany Journal says : "The value of the Tribune's political intelligence may be judged from a single specimen. In its items on thc progress ot the campaign,1 it gives this report from Otsego Co. : 4 It the Democrats endorse Mr. Greeley, Otsego will give him 1500 majority.' Nowwe happen to know a good deal about the sentiment ot Otse go Co., and we knew that this 'report' is absurd. In four of the towns to wards the eastern and northern side, a canvass shows, that that there are four Greeley Republicans all told, and the number will not run much above that in the rest. In bis little speech at the raising ol the Grant and. Wilson flag in BaDgor, Me., Senator Hamlin said that Grant was not a learned man nor one who made learned quotations, but he had a sound heart and the qualifications of a statesman. When he meets in council where sound judgment is lequired, Grant ranks among the best statesmen. Side by side with him stands Henry Wilson, whose heart beats iu unison with that of the man who labors. Grant stands acknowledged as the first Captain of tho age. He sought not the Presidency, and desired it not. He was called to the head of the Government and would be called again as sure as the ides of November came. Gkand time on Thursday at New Berne.
